Life as a woman in the business world

Women are often categorized as emotional, weak, flirtatious, intelligent, and attractive. Although the 21st century has proved how strong and powerful women are in today's day in age. Hilary Clinton as candidate for U.S. Presidency alone as shown us how far women has come in world. Throughout history women have fought for equality, recently I spoke to a woman in her early 90's who shared with that most women during her youth didn't have a single bill in their name. Now, unfortunately the numbers of single mom households have more than doubled. No, broken homes are nothing to be proud of, but this simply shows the strength of a woman. As a women the challenges we face to become successful are endless. When placed in important positions, a woman has to work twice as hard as a man, in order to receive respect and the correct accolades. We have to prove that we're a force to be reckoned with and not an easy push over. If we're not stern or aggressive we're instantly condemned as "weak."

My most recent challenge stemmed from me being an attractive woman. How so? Well, opportunities are created through the network you build and the connections you have with other people. Generally most people present opportunities first to the people that they personal know or are connected to, and that's in any career. In the entertainment field your income is driven off of the people "fans" you have. So when the opportunity to connect with someone who has a larger fan base is presented to you, it's your job to maximize it. Unfortunately as an attractive woman most men see this as an opportunity to test my morality. Incidences such as this one may shape how you're perceived for the rest of your life, so how you handle them are critical.

So when seeking business opportunities I've learned to create my own playing field. I know my expertise and I evaluate the opponent's weaknesses in order to advance on the opportunity.   As a woman in a male dominant field, you must train yourself to think like a male in order to exceed past them.  In conclusion I just wanted to state how much strength women have and to not let situations or people define who you are. This is not an article meant to bash or receive pity from anyone who decides to read. Nor is this article meant to convey arrogance or any kind of conceit or vanity towards personal image. This post is simply a real situation that most women experience. These are the years for women, lets embrace them and change the world!
