Emond Franklin  (born June 21 1991), better known by his stage name Edmonsta, is an American rapper born in the crime-infested West Bank neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. Edmonsta started his life off with a struggle. At 8 weeks old, his father permanently departed the family, leaving  Edmond's mother to give all parental rights to her sister because she was unable to raise a third child on her own. His Aunt raised him to be the man he is today. "I call her mother to this day. My aunt made sure I had what I needed even though she was struggling. She made sure I went to school, made sure I was making good grades. My aunt always came an got me out of trouble when I in trouble".   Emondsta found his true love producing music.  "There's nothing like it", He says. Passionately driven to fulfill his dreams, Edmond knew music was his future and felt he had something incredibly powerful to share with the world. At the young age of ...

Solange - Seat at the table Review

Image
2 Sisters on top of the industry I finally listened to Solange's new album, Seat at the table . Yes, I know I'm late and many of you are probably saying "You sleep," but I wanted to be completely fare with my words. Like most people when you first hear Solanges' name,  Queen Beyoncé comes to mind, and soon after instant comparisons fuels the conversation. As a younger sister I can relate to persistent unintentional judgement from several angels both negative and positive. One moment someone is saying you're smarter than the other, and in the next skit they're expressing how you're existence obsolete. Yes, the challenges of not releasing your full potential, which is why I'm so proud of you for this album. Anyone with ears can hear that Seat at the Table is instrumentally crafted using strings and horns to build such a classic euphoric symphony. Solange talented vocals ranging  between Soprano and alto stands out through out the entire album. ...

Beyonce The Formation Tour

Image
If you haven't seen Beyonce's new Formation video, you've officially been sleep underneath a rock. The unexpected release took over the Internet instantly. Being released in the wake of her highly anticipated Super Bowl performance, the beehive stirred up more attention, talk about great management for the Queen. Maybe I love the video so much because I'm from New Orleans, but the video gives you more sass and independence than ever before. Beyonce goes back to her New Orleans and Houston roots with Formation, "Slay!"  Using Nola as the film location Bey addresses some political issues like; Hurricane Katrina, Trayvon Martin, and Black lives matter. The video repeatedly switches scenes one being Bey standing on a submerging police car in the flooded city and another is a child in a black hoodie dancing in front of armed cops. Does the Queen Bey actually care about these issues that we as a society face? I have no clue, but I do know she's 10 years...

What's Your Earliest Memory? #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 2 To give you guys a brief history about myself, I am originally from New Orleans, LA and was raised there until age 11. In 2005 I evacuated to Atlanta, GA because of Hurricane Katrina, I was in 7th grade living with my family which consisted of my cousins, parents, siblings, aunt, uncle, and grandparents. With that being stated my earliest childhood memory takes place in the city of New Orleans. I separate my memories based on seasons, people, times, locations, music, and important events, because I feel that separating them makes me remember more. So I would have to say that one of my earliest childhood memories is playing on a school yard. My sister and I are only 16 months a part, so she was always a grade level ahead of me. I was always a loner even as a small child, I played with very few children, actually the friends I made as a young child are still my dear friends today. So when my sister's class came on the play ground I instantly went to hug her, without rega...
