After a crazy 2 weeks of hearing about the record-breaking Marvel film, Black Panther, I managed to finally see what the hype is about. This box office hit managed to rack in over 700 million in global sales, while including many new faces to Hollywood. Marvel is already known for having some of the best superhero, so it came as no surprise when the Black Panther exceeded pass expectations. I loved the involvement of accurate historic references, reiterating the evidence that Africa is one of the richest nations, oppose to the stereotypical "starving African" statements. Such presentations have the power to decrease discrimination towards the African American community. While the underlying theme of this story carries more of a revolutionary tone, oppose to the average good guy verses bad guy theme. With all the scrutiny Stacey Dash received for saying the Image Awards promotes segregation and should be canceled, I was more inclined to watch the award ceremony this year. Hosted by comedian Anthony Anderson the ceremony was expected to be entertaining and it was. I think Anderson did a great job speaking, and addressing important topics from a comedic stand point. I enjoy the humor of Anderson who also stars in ABC sitcom Blackish alongside Tracie Ellis Ross, who won an award last night for the show, so cudos to Anthony Anderson because he's a major reason for the success of Blackish.  The ceremony honorees came to no surprise and all but one winner were expected to take home the image award. The most shocking win to me was Michael B. Jordan for best motion picture in Creed over Will Smith in Concussion . Honestly I believe both Michael and The Smiths were all shocked by this win. A stunning performance from Michael B. Jordan and the star studded cast as the Rocky franchise continues with Creed . Jordan plays Adonis Johnson the son of the deceased heavy weight champion Apollo Creed. Adonis carries his father passion for the sport, but wants to make a name of his own, so he travels to the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia seeking support, training, and answers from the icon Rocky Balboa of course played by an old Sylvester Stallone. Eventually his secret gets out that he's the champ's son and is set for a match against the current heavy weight champion "Pretty Ricky" Colan, played by Tony Belew. What is set to be an easy match before Colan goes to prison quickly turns out to be a serious blow out.  Recently Stallone won a Golden Globe for his part in the film, which yes he deserved.
