Drake Summer Sixteen

Image
Well Drake decided to not take a break and drop some new music last night. The song is titled "Summer Sixteen" of course referring to this upcoming summer.  Drake premiered a new single tonight on his Beats 1 show  OVO Sound Radio , and he announced that the long-awaited  Views From The 6  will be out in April. Do  I like the song? Yes, the song sounds like the 2015 "What a time" Drake but once again it's catchy. The beat is nice and fitting for that hard bass, while the simple hook makes it easy for you to catch a feel for the song. Inside of the verses Drake references his prolonged beef with Meek Mill and within the first bar takes what sounds like shots at President Obama, "Tell Obama that my verses are like the whips that he in, they bulletproof." Now yes, that statement could be dissected into so many implications, for instance; does Drake have a problem with President Obama preference of music referring to Kendrick Lamar? Or was that a simple

50 Shades of Black Review

Image
After carefully deliberating I've decided that the Wayans family are hilarious, but only when they're together. Think about it... Their best movies and sitcoms involve 3 or more Wayans, for example; Don't Be A Menace, White Chicks, In Living Color, Little Man, Scary Movie. I can go on but as for the solo projects, ehh not so much. Their recent movie 50 Shades of Black hit theaters yesterday and although I did share some laughs, I would've rather sat home and watched rerun episodes of The Wayans Brothers. Of course in 50 Shades the Wayans used their parody style of comedy to turn the "seriousness" of the original movie into pure comedy. However I think the trailer provides more than enough scenes that ultimately takes away from watching the movie, because you feel as if you've already saw it. I would've liked for the Wayans to be more creative with the comedy and not exploiting homosexuality as much. Yes, I understand as an avid Wayans viewer that Ma

Colors are Symbolic, What Does Your Favorite Color Mean? #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 18 Blue   My favorite color is blue. I'm not quite sure why my favorite color is blue, but I guess because blue is beautiful to me in all shades. From sky blue to royal blue I just love the color and always have since childhood. After doing some extensive research I found that many of the meanings and symbols that represent the color blue also aligns with pieces of my personality. This makes me believe that our spirit is attracted to certain colors through our emery frequencies, ultimately playing a minor part in our characteristics.  The color blue often is symbolic to water and its passive aggressive like force. Water is soothing and calm, but if it's stirred up it becomes aggressive and even life threatening. Blue has connection to words like intuition, whether celestial or oceanic, blue evokes wide open spaces and is linked with infinity and primordial emptiness. The blue of the sky has been associated with the male principle, distance and the gods.

Punchline Season on iTunes

Image
C4 Kaboom is back with another album titled Punchline Season, set to release on January 29. You can pre-order and preview the album with this  link .  The young Brooklyn native takes a more serious approach in his rhyme scheme this time around, hence the title Punchline Season , because he definitely uses them. In songs like "Set the record straight," you can instantly hear the development of his sound. This song happens to be my favorite thus far, addressing that he has lyrical talents to those who's doubted him. The song "Picture this Ponder that," is the first single off of the album. A good choice as a single in my opinion, because the hard bass beat provides that trap/club sound and it also flows inside of the rest of the album. Take a listen! Follow him! One Direction Releases History Video

Image
We Got A Whole Lot of History  Nile. Liam. Harry. Louie Directioners reflect on past five years of the world phenom boy band One Direction in their new video for their single "History." Prior to announcing the group would take a year hiatus before the release of their 5th album Made in the Am , member Zayn decided to depart from the group, breaking fans heart everywhere. The album features current members Liam, Harry, Louie, and Nile, but the video displays a heartwarming journey of the entire group. Liam announced he too will be pursuing a solo career. Harry's plans for after the hiatus are still unknown, but he seems satisfied in his on and off relationship with Kendall Jenner. Louie welcome home a baby boy named Sydney Rain this past week, so fans are unsure of his pursuits. Zayn announced that he'll be releasing his new single "Pillow Talk" on January 29. Nile plans are also unknown. So the group definitely has their hands full. We look forward

Don't Limit Yourself #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 17 A quote I live by: "If it exists in the mind than possibilities of it being reality are infinite" Li Li Nicols I hate to seem with vain quoting myself, but I truly try to live by this phrase. The mind is the most powerful tool in the universe. Why, one because the brain consist of the universe, two because it creates the world, and three because it controls your entire physical existence. Something that powerful makes it hard for me to believe that there has to be limits. To limit something is to object or restrict an option before attempting to pursue. What if Bill Gates thought of Microsoft, but said it's impossible to achieve? So when I mean by "exist in the mind," I'm referring to anything, idea, belief, concept, theory etc... If that thought was built inside of your head, than the idea of making it reality is not impossible. Good or bad.

Kanye West Handwritten Ritual

Image
Early today Kanye released the handwritten Track List to his upcoming album Swish. Rapper Consequence then revealed via Instagram that this is the same method Kanye used for his classic debut album The College Dropout , which features Consequence on the album. I hope this means that Kanye is back with the fire like College Dropout or we might have to send him to school again. So far you're 1 for 3 with leading with "No Parties in L.A." I just hope the Kardashians have nothing to do with the album honestly, save the creativity for the creators please, thank you. Swish Track List "Nina Chop" "Father Stretch My Hands" "Waves" "High Lights" "30 Hours" "No More Parties in L.A." "Fade" "FML" "Real Friends" "Wolves" Some things never change... The ritual continues... This is the First First handwritten Tracklisting of "The College Dropout

Reasons to Meditate

Image
1. Meditation gives you a chance to relax.  By completely isolating yourself, you give yourself a chance to think without the influence of anything other than your own mind. Yes, it is possible for you to be able to meditate with others around you, but naturally if they're not participating, you can easily become sidetracked. There are people who can maintain focus while others are around doing other things, but it takes a lot of security, patience, and focus in my opinion. I've meditated in parks while others were around so it's definitely possible, but I prefer everything to be completely sound.  Li Li Nicols Bahamian Trip  2. Meditation builds resourceful characteristics like: Patience, Focus, Confidence, and even your physical bodily functions. Being completely still ultimately makes time seem slower than it actually is. The human urge in us likes to constantly move, because our brain is always working. Building focus and patience allows you to strat

The Ignorance of Stacey Dash

Image
What was the first thing you were taught about the African American heritage? I guess it all fell down Stacey Think long and hard before answering that question. I remember mine, simple slavery. Our history is presented to us as if African Americans only roots were being enslaved. If not slaves here in America than slaves in Africa, who were traded here to continue slavery. Disregarding African kings, queens, tribes, and indigenous culture all over the world; Kemet, Aboriginals, the Mongols, Meso-America, Nubians, etc...The other races begin from their tribes and colonies, but we began from slavery? No, you realize once you do some extended research that we (all people) were falsely educated to that accordance. Ultimately causing devalues segregation, and mistreatment that are still present in today's society. Is this intentional? Some argue no and many suggest that the mistreatment is, but ultimately that's for you to decide. As for promoting segregation such as BET, B

The Revenant Up for 12 Oscars

Image
The Revenant  A person who has returned; supposedly from the dead Released: December 25, 2015 The Oscar nominated movie   The Revenant   stars Leonardo Dicaprio, as Hugh Glass an American settler helping the French colony search for pellets in the harsh America. The film is set during the early 1800s, telling the story of Hugh Glass, a man who loses his Native American family to the colonization wars. He's betrayed by the French and left for dead after the mauling attack of a Grizzly bear and is forced to face the test of the ultimate survival. The antagonist in the movie is the character Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy who murders Glass's son leaving him with nothing but his breath in the world. This calls for the fight of revenge between Hugh Glass and Fitzgerald. The 3 hour film stirs up mixed feelings throughout the entire movie. The brutality of the fighting and infamous bear scene will make your stomach turn, as it does suppose to. You really felt and se

3 Reasons Why I am Not Boycotting the Oscars

Image
First of all I love Chris Rock; he's one of the funniest comedians of our time. So him alone is one reason that I'm not boycotting the Oscars. Usually I never watch the Oscars, but I planned to watch it this year, because of the honest theatrical comedy of Chris Rock. Secondly, where were the Smiths when the rap category winner wasn't shown at the 2015 Grammys? Let me answer that, they were watching the show. Award shows have been prejudice since their beginning and clearly in 2016 there hasn't been much of a change. If you're going to boycott the Oscars you should propose a boycott for all of the Award ceremonies.  Thirdly what are the actual motives behind the Smiths boycott? In 2015 over 10 innocent black teens were gunned down and I don't remember seeing none of the Smiths raising a "race" issue then during that time. Did they participate in any events with black lives matter? No. Did they use their money or fame to help any serious ca

Kanye is Back! NO More Parties in LA (Full Version)

Image
Hail Yeezus!  Guess who’s back with the GOOD Music?! After announcing that GOOD Fridays were back in session, when Kanye failed to release anything this past Friday, fans begin to worry. Yes, Kanye everyone has officially dropped something that's hot! I approve and he kind of made me a Kanye fan once again with No More Parties. As I predicted, he doesn't leave Kendrick hanging and lays down a nice solid verse alongside his classic Kanye flow and a couple of new flows to go with the song. Hopefully this is a sample of how all of   SWISH  his upcoming album will sound. Kendrick Lamar of course spits a solid verse, that's no surprise. Nice job Ye, looking forward to the release!

3 Pet Peeves #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 15 My Pet Peeves 1. Someone waking me up! I hate being woke up, like uhhh just let me get my full sleep. Once I'm up I'm up and it's extremely hard for me to fall back to sleep. Also like what if I'm in the middle of an important dream. So yeah don't wake me up unless I ask to be woken up. 2. Standing behind me! I know it's weird but I'm extremely paranoid, so when someone is behind me longer than a minute I freak out. Like this literally drives me insane. When I'm in public you'll always see me looking over my shoulder because of this reason. The only time I can tolerate someone being behind me is if they're holding me or showing affection, and even then I'm looking over their shoulder. 3. Random uneven things When there's everything in place but that one little something it bothers me lol. For example; like if the whole counter is clean but there's one spot, I must clean it in some kind of

Isaiah Rashad - Smile (New Music)

One word #dope, I love the beat and the vocals are perfect. “Smile” makes you want to smile; smoke, and ride, smile has a very smooth natural sound. Nice start for the year TDE with Kendrick's new song “Untitled 2” that he premiered on Jimmy Fallon, and Absoul's House of Sin.

Best Actor in Creed Goes to...

Image
A stunning performance from Michael B. Jordan and the star studded cast as the Rocky franchise continues with Creed . Jordan plays Adonis Johnson the son of the deceased heavy weight champion Apollo Creed. Adonis carries his father passion for the sport, but wants to make a name of his own, so he travels to the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia seeking support, training, and answers from the icon Rocky Balboa of course played by an old Sylvester Stallone. Eventually his secret gets out that he's the champ's son and is set for a match against the current heavy weight champion "Pretty Ricky" Colan, played by Tony Belew. What is set to be an easy match before Colan goes to prison quickly turns out to be a serious blow out.  Recently Stallone won a Golden Globe for his part in the film, which yes he deserved. However the Jordan isn't nominated for any awards for the film and I think this is ridiculous. He was the best actor in the entire franchis

Wale Performs at the State of The Union

Image
Wale   On Tuesday, January 12, 2016, a historic moment for hip hop and history took place; With Wale being the first rapper to perform for the 2016 State of the Union. Introduced by former 106 & Park host and actor Terrence J, Wale did in fact turn the State of the Union into a concert lol. Performing 3 songs "DC Chillin," "White Sneakers," and "Love Hate," Wale represented DC and hip hop proudly. What a way to begin the final year of Barack Obama presidency. I loved it! Part of me was like ok the fact that his DJ have a laptop with the infamous stickers in the middle of the stage and Wale referring to the White House as "this joint" is a little hood, but it's us, it shows our culture. Wale was himself and didn't change just because he was at the White House and I loved that. Not only was the performance great, but I also applauding Wale for refraining from using the N word during the performance. High five because I know I woul

Redd Sterling - Before Affect (New Heat)

A unique sound for the Atlanta scene by the growing artist ReddSterling! The "Before Affect" has a nice sound that instantly grabs your attention, making the audience want more from the artist. The song reminds me a little of Travis Scotts "Antidote," which is not a bad thing at all. Twitter  @Reddsterling Instagram  @Reddsterling

Everyone Can't Be Rich Here's Why

Image
I'm with all this hype about the lottery pot holding 1.4 billion dollars, I've decided to weigh in on the topic of money. Since the announcement that the lottery hit the all time record of a billion memes like below have gone viral. People are now questioning why that is the lottery pot is so large, but poverty is still relevant in our society. Saying stuff like "if everyone got a million dollars there would be no poverty."  Well I'm here to say people you're wrong!  First off being poor/poverty is a mind set and mentality. If you believe that you're poor and if you're doing nothing to change that than you'll forever be poor. Ultimately you determine your worth nothing or no one does, so if you're rich your rich. Billionaires who come from nothing have proven that to us time and time again. Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Oprah, the list can go on. People often get stuck in this poverty mind set, because they feel they're doing what'

#MusicMonday Supa Luxe - Ivan N. Yamouf x LVCHLD

Ivan N. YaMouf drops off a nice new sound to end and begin the new year. I enjoyed the smoothness of the beat produced by Kino Beats, and Ivan's catchy chorus "and we gonna blow this year," simple but direct and flows nicely to the beat. LVCHLD gives us a pretty solid versus, a good collaborative effort from the duo, I like Supa Luxe. Ivan if you keep dropping songs like this you're sure to manifest those words. Nice sound for you, and keep going!

Where Will You be in 7 years #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 14 My life in 7 years? Seven is one of the numbers of completion.  In seven years I will have success in many of my businesses. Currently I'm working on my real estate license, developing this blog as a business, I have ideas for a few other businesses also, and most importantly my music. I see my fan base increasing by 60% of where it is now. My music will create its own genre and be appreciated by all who hears. At first I would've said I'd be signed to Roc Nation because that's been a dream of mine since age 13, but now I'm not sure. I actually enjoy being an independent artist, it's completely free. Ultimately my biggest brand will be my name Li Li Nicols. With my real estate license I'll gain experience in a completely new and profitable field. I always planned to go into real estate, initially by buying property to build houses to sell. Brad Pitt inspired this in me because after Hurricane Katrina, he (not literally) built up a lot of

G.O.O.D Friday is Back (kinda) New Kanye

Image
Kim Kardashian announced via Twitter that G.O.O.D Friday is back. For those of you who don't know what that means, Kanye West will release a NEW song every Friday until the release of his new album titled SWISH. Kanye introduced the original G.O.O.D Friday releases during the release of his classic album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. This is my favorite album of Kanye's to this date. So hopefully that means that the new album and singles will be just as great. Although his recent releases "Facts" and "Real Friends" are not looking like it. Today he released "Real Friends/No Parties" which features singer Ty Dollar $ign and my hopes were high once again because I love Ty and Ye for the most part, but my high quickly went low. Once again Ye borrows the Drake sound in th chorus and the song as a whole is pretty amateur compared to the Ye we're use to. Yes, this song is way better than "Facts," but it's still not great. I&

Everyone Needs to Watch Chiraq (Review)

Image
It's crazy how everyone (including myself) we're so quick to judge and write off Spike Lee for him depicting the current state of the world, in his new movie Chiraq . Chicago natives instantly criticize Spike Lee for creating a movie about the gang violence in Chicago, because he's not from Chicag smh. Chance The Rapper says the movie was made to exploit not to "save lives." I too participate in this ignorance, mainly because Nick Cannon is one of the stars in the movie. He plays the character Chiraq , the lead gang member and local rapper of Chicago. Although the movie turned out to be phenomenal, I'll never be able to take Nick Cannon seriously especially as a gang member, with his drum line face lol. Sorry Nick your acting wasn't too bad actually, but I cannot. Anyways back to the topic at hand, Chiraq is a term describing the city of Chicago and Iraq as a war zone hence "Iraq." WAKE UP!!! Spike is weighing in on the ignorance of gang violenc

VH1 Presents: The Breaks (Review)

Image
This Hip Hop inspired movie takes place during what we call the "golden era" 90s hip hop. The movie was somewhat confusing for me, because my assumptions presume it was about hip hop pioneer Kurtis Blow. Being that The Breaks is the title of the 1980s hit single off of the self titled album Kurtis Blow. However later finding out the movie is inspired by journalist Dan Charnas book The Big Payback, a narrative history of the hip hop business. It doesn't surprise me that The Breaks the movie swung in a different direction. The movie stars Mack Wilds, Wood Harris, and Method Method Man, who plays DeeVee's father.  Tristen "Mack" Wilds as Dee Vee, a young producer searching for a talented artist to record a demo tape. He goes through the several trials, ups and downs inside of the movie in order to get "the break." The movie is centered on Afton Williamson who plays Nikki Jones a driven individual who just wants to be involved in hip hop in any wa
