Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story

Image
On February 26, 2012, a teenager by the name of Trayvon Martin, was fatally shot in small gated community outside of Orlando, FL. A middle aged Hispanic male named George Zimmerman was identified and charged as the shooter. The conflict started because the African American teen was seen walking in the community wearing a black hoodie, and without hesitation the former military man decided to take the "law" in his hands. Accusing Martin of disturbing the community led to a physical conflict which ended with the death of the teen by gunshot. The tragic murder of the innocent teen spread like wild fire exciting racial tensions throughout America. After Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges the outrage in the black community influenced the Black Lives Matters movement and protest. Beyonce The Formation Tour

Image
If you haven't seen Beyonce's new Formation video, you've officially been sleep underneath a rock. The unexpected release took over the Internet instantly. Being released in the wake of her highly anticipated Super Bowl performance, the beehive stirred up more attention, talk about great management for the Queen. Maybe I love the video so much because I'm from New Orleans, but the video gives you more sass and independence than ever before. In the case of the Mike Brown murder Wilson was not indicted. The country is in outrage once again, protesting, rioting, and social media is "going off." My family asked me if I were going to attend a protest in Atlanta, GA, but my question is what's the point? The reality of the situation is that this is no longer a shock; a police officer gunned down a defenseless man and got off. Yes, this is wrong, there is no way around the situation when an officer who's given certain training procedures does not follow them, but are you honestly surprised.  I will not go to a protest suggesting race issues which we know by now tha...
