Modern Communication #HurtBae

Image
Dating in the 21st century is nothing like any other time period. Although the dynamics hasn't changed much, the development and resolution has no clear direction. During the 20th century dating was simpler, you dated and either you got married or not. Affairs, divorce, and money problems in the relationship wasn't as outspoken as they are today. I blame the internet for altering how we communicate ultimately decreasing direct verbal expression, which allows people to release and work through their issues face to face. Recently a video surfaced of an ex couple asking each other questions to gain perspective and closure to their situation, while being videotaped. Titled #HurtBae the video has gone viral, leading to a stream of ex couples mimicking the first couple. How it works is; each person takes a turn and ask a question pertaining to the relationship and express how they felt at that moment and the other person responds with the truth and their feelings. I love t...

Last Words You'd Say to an Ex #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Things I would say to an ex? Hmm this is an interesting topic for me. Why? Well because I've only had 2 exes in my life so far and I've talked to them both after the breakup. My first ex I speak with more frequently, and I am straight forward with him. There's no holding back or biting my tongue when I am addressing him, because there's no reason to. Our current relationship is weird because we're far from friends, definitely do not see each other, and we sporadically stop talking for months. However we enjoy conversations with each other, he's like a fungus that I cut but grows back every season. So I guess I would tell him "what are you doing here, leave me alone and go away." Although I've said these exact words to him several times.  Now my second ex is a little more complicated, because our breakup was strange and a little more personal than the first, so it's not as easy for us to just converse. He calls me randomly like ever...

Let's Talk Sex

Image
Sex, is the most natural form of intimacy that all species crave. We're created to procreate, so of course it's natural for us to want sex. However we still question the time frame in which we should have sex with our person of interest. Often fearing that premature sex will have long terms effective on the relationship, such as; developing feelings of entrust, boredom, dislike, and rejection.  When you have sex with someone you like, you eventually wonder if you're the only partner, where is it going, how long will these last, or family growths related events.  Un-trusting the person you like, without having reasons to do so is doubt that you created. Branching off in search to fill an unintentional void that has been placed is a form of unsatisfactory, which is if you're searching. Simply beginning to dislike a person after the lust depletes leads to mix signals because you thought the lust was more than lust.  Rejection, ouch! No one enjoys being rejected. ...

Single Life, Relationship, or Situationship ? #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 11 Well my current relationship status is single. At the age of 22, being single have its ups and downs of course. I've developed a lot of mixed emotions about the single life. In 2014 I broke up with my ex boy friend of two years and I've been back "on the market" since. I enjoy having the freedom of not really answering to anyone about who, what, when, where I'm doing whatever it is I'm doing, but the single life does get lonely sometimes. Since my break up there's one guy that truly caught my interest and our situationship has been a complete roller coaster and I'm not sure it's even worth the ride. Wait, let me go back and define what a situationship is in case you've never heard of the term.  A situationship is  basically a pseudo-relationship masking itself as a formative relationship. It smells like a relationship, it sorta looks like a relationship, and it may even feel like one, but it's not. So yeah for those of you o...

My First Kiss & Love (Details) #30DayBlogChallenge

Image
Day 3 Your first love & first kiss; if different discuss both! This is a very personal question for most, including myself. When topics like this are discussed we tend to be very careful about the details because you never know who's watching, listening, or in this case reading. I will briefly discuss my first kiss first, because it's very simple and straight to the point.  First Kiss I was 12 years old in 8th grade (yes I know I was young in 8th grade), attending Chamblee Middle School in Atlanta, GA, this was 1 year after Hurricane Katrina Struck my home city(New Orleans). I guess I was dating this boy name Shaquille Muhammed, we both didn't know what dating really entailed, but we just copied our associates and TV. Anyways all we did was walk around the school together, and at the end of the day he walked me to my bus. I leaned in for a hug, but he kissed me instead, it caught me completely off guard. I don't know if this was his first kiss, but ...

How long do you think Drake and Serena will last?

Image
Well of course Drake is once again the center of media attention, this time with his off and on again relationship with Tennis champion Serena Williams.  Rewind............ The couple first surfaced in the media in 2012 after Serena and rapper Common broke up. Drake and Common began having problems which lead to the songs "Stay Schemin" and "Sweet" where both MCs addressed the beef in quotes like "it bothers me when the gods get to acting like the broads" by Drake and Common saying "you Canada Dry." Allegedly the feud was directly because of Serena, but eventually the beef died off after both rappers ended their relationship with Serena. Now fast forward......... Drake & Anna Wintour Here we are now; 4 years later after their break up and the couple have been spotted together on several occasions. Drake jinxed her tennis matched, they we're spotted smooching at dinner and today Serena responded to an Instagram post dra...

Women Raise Your Standards!

Image
Dating at the age of 21 can be extremely hard, especially for women. Women are often criticizes for how they should present themselves (dress, act, maintenance), women are generally more concerned about marriage and children, and women are programmed to have the "princess" mentally. Meaning that one day our dream guy will whisk us away to a beautiful castle and we will live happily ever after. They leave out parts like, people are normal with their own problems, you have to earn your castle, and that there are 7 billion people in the world. So the question is how do we know if we've found a good catch? Let's start by saying, no one should settle for something or someone whom you do not want. Yes, relationships takes compromise, but compromise does not mean lower your standards. Compromise is simply bending them, for example; if one of your standards is guys with luxury cars; a decent compromise would be talking to a guy who drives a nice 2014 Toyota Camry. You do...

Lust or Love Not a Netflix

Image
Love | Lust I've noticed in the recent months that dating has become less serious and more casual oppose to the past. We are forgetting one of the most essential pieces of life, LOVE. Nowadays we are confusing Lust with Love, and I don't think there's a direct person that we can pass the blame to. Everyone has good and bad qualities, and we're suppose to use dating in order to find out what those qualities are, and basically if that person is worth dealing with for the rest of your life. I feel that there is no point of claiming a relationship if you truly do not want one, and there's nothing wrong with not wanting a relationship and/or title. Ladies just because a guy will listen to your problems, doesn't mean he loves you. Fellas just because a girl sleeps with you doesn't mean she's in love with you. This is real life and not a movie, and the odds are that if you're love life resembles a movie than you'll be having a lot of problems sho...

Balance: The Key to Your Relationship.

Image
Nearly everyone is interested in relationships. You are either in one, been in one, or want to know how to get in and maintain one. If none are the case, you may genuinely enjoy being alone. Regardless of which one applies to you, you probably want to find a way to relate the complexities of relationships to YOUR relationships. Among all of the ins-and-outs of these partnerships, the most important key is probably moderation and balance. Sounds pretty basic, right? Well, it was equally as basic when you read the title and opened the page. Peep. Being in a relationship requires one to have patience and never do too much of one thing. Doing too much of one thing can drive your partner crazy at any given moment, hence the cliche that exists that I don't have to type for you to know. With that, you have to be understanding of it and balance things out. For example, men tend to stay away from women that are overly-clingy. Imagine leaving your phone in your room while you...
