New Music C4 Kaboom - Pot to Piss

Image
C4 kaboom is back with his latest album Pot to Piss ; released on November 9th on iTunes . The album explores new realms of the young artist, while delivering the classic message of experiencing poverty and growing as an artist, but also remaining yourself. The album artwork is very direct, it’s straight to the point, this allows his audience to witness some of the frustration Kaboom feels upon their listening. Although he’s yet to reach that superstar status Kaboom knows which moves he must make. The album is one of duality, on one side you have the fun, but frustrated angle that proceeds modern day party anthems. In other words, these are the catchy tunes that includes auto tune, with the potential to catch media attention. Songs like “Take a Ride” is the perfect example of a party anthem catering to his female fans. Meanwhile songs like “Superficial” is still a party anthem but on the opposite side of the spectrum. Pot to Piss is new Kaboom, who learns from the new gener...

Let's talk: Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B

Image
In 4 days since the release of rapper Cardi B’s debut album titled, Invasion of Privacy . Atlantic Records has already announced that the album is a certified gold, with certainty that it’ll be platinum by the end of this week.  Fans are going crazy, many saying that the album is an instant classic. Comparing the album to female rapper rivalry, Nicki Minaj debut album Pink Friday, whose numbers have remained unmatched, until now. There’s without a doubt that Cardi B have exceeded expectations throughout her career, no one ever assumed she would be this dominant in rap from her start on Love & Hip-Hop New York. Even after her hit single " Bodak Yellow ", I like others feared that her album wouldn’t maintain her popularity. I was wrong, Invasion of Privacy delivers in production, relevancy, style and overall relatable content. Cardi announces her platform as a hit making trap queen with this one. With songs that features artist like Kehlani, SZA , and Chance the R...

Has the Drake era come to an end?

Image
For over the past 7 years, Drake have remained superior over all of the rappers. His catchy hooks and songs became number one hits instantly, and there's always a club/radio banger that everyone has stuck in their heads. I've been a Drake era advocate since I heard the song "Brand New" back in 2009, from that point on I knew singing had officially fused with mainstream hip hop. Although R&B and Hip Hop has always gone hand to hand, Drake created this strange unique but indifferent sound, that arguably carried from Lil Wayne . Basically, I'm not saying Drake started the trend of rapping and singing simultaneously, but he definitely reinvented the popularity of the sound.  So, what makes me question the end of the Drake era? Summer 2017 raised questions about  where was Drake. This was the first year in close to a decade that Drake did not dominate the summer or even the year. All eyes were on artist like Cardi B, Lil Uzi, and even Drake's leadi...

Jon Juug Banks Nobody #BuzzinATL

Image
Buzz in ATL You can catch Jon Banks performing at Buzz in ATL on August 22 at Artisans Bar & Gallery. Address: 140 Peachtree Street Atlanta, GA. Jon Juug Banks blesses Live with another track titled "Nobody," a song with an unique way voicing the feeling of disconnect. Whether your feelings of isolation means not having a shoulder to lean on or simply the knowledge of distrust. Either way Juug expresses it all, but in a catchy sound that makes the song repeatable.

Reinventing gangster rap Emonsta

Image
Emond Franklin  (born June 21 1991), better known by his stage name Edmonsta, is an American rapper born in the crime-infested West Bank neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. Edmonsta started his life off with a struggle. At 8 weeks old, his father permanently departed the family, leaving  Edmond's mother to give all parental rights to her sister because she was unable to raise a third child on her own. His Aunt raised him to be the man he is today. "I call her mother to this day. My aunt made sure I had what I needed even though she was struggling. She made sure I went to school, made sure I was making good grades. My aunt always came an got me out of trouble when I in trouble".   Emondsta found his true love producing music.  "There's nothing like it", He says. Passionately driven to fulfill his dreams, Edmond knew music was his future and felt he had something incredibly powerful to share with the world. At the young age of ...

Kendrick Lamar stays Humble while fighting for hip hop

Image
Kendrick Lamar announces that his new album is on the way, drops 2 surprise singles, and a video to support one. Boy what a busy week Kendrick has had. Lamar's sudden reappearance after not making much noise in 2016 after his controversial Grammy performance  is revitalizing, because I began to think that his buzz depleted. Well I was wrong because the internet is going crazy over the new video "Humble," and I can't blame them. The video itself is very artistic and creatively arranged. Showing all of the elements that we're use to hearing from Kendrick, while continuing to focus on the message of the song. As for the actual song, well it's definitely a "Kendrick turn up," meaning that Lamar has always had an unique style of creating a club banger that has a clear message inside of it, and humble is no different. He uses the term humble loosely as a banter against critics. In efforts of weighing in on hip hops current states and those artist who are...

5 songs on More Life that sound like other Drake songs

Image
1. Free Smoke & Grammy Although these songs have completely different arrangements on each album, they both share similar content and sounds. Free Smoke begins with the choir like sound that have become more popular in hip hop and leads into the natural base upbeat sound. Grammy just instantly goes into the upbeat tempo Drake flow on both songs are almost synonymous, but Free Smoke just isn't as catchy as Grammy. 2. No long talk & Energy  Besides the fact that the songs share the same sound bite. The beat and flow Drake uses screams Energy, if not the entire sound of If you're reading this . I appreciate the fact that Drake always features unknown artist, giving them a chance to "prove" themselves, but in this case I'm not sure Giggs fit the beat of the song. 3. Madiba Riddim & Controlla I guess on this album Drake was really feeling the Caribbeans, because majority of the album sounds island influenced. This comes as no surprise, because to ...

Drake Summer Sixteen

Image
Well Drake decided to not take a break and drop some new music last night. The song is titled "Summer Sixteen" of course referring to this upcoming summer.  Drake premiered a new single tonight on his Beats 1 show  OVO Sound Radio , and he announced that the long-awaited  Views From The 6  will be out in April. Do  I like the song? Yes, the song sounds like the 2015 "What a time" Drake but once again it's catchy. The beat is nice and fitting for that hard bass, while the simple hook makes it easy for you to catch a feel for the song. Inside of the verses Drake references his prolonged beef with Meek Mill and within the first bar takes what sounds like shots at President Obama, "Tell Obama that my verses are like the whips that he in, they bulletproof." Now yes, that statement could be dissected into so many implications, for instance; does Drake have a problem with President Obama preference of music referring to Kendrick Lamar? Or was that a simple ...

Kanye is Back! NO More Parties in LA (Full Version)

Image
Hail Yeezus!  Guess who’s back with the GOOD Music?! After announcing that GOOD Fridays were back in session, when Kanye failed to release anything this past Friday, fans begin to worry. Yes, Kanye everyone has officially dropped something that's hot! I approve and he kind of made me a Kanye fan once again with No More Parties. As I predicted, he doesn't leave Kendrick hanging and lays down a nice solid verse alongside his classic Kanye flow and a couple of new flows to go with the song. Hopefully this is a sample of how all of   SWISH  his upcoming album will sound. Kendrick Lamar of course spits a solid verse, that's no surprise. Nice job Ye, looking forward to the release!

Isaiah Rashad - Smile (New Music)

One word #dope, I love the beat and the vocals are perfect. “Smile” makes you want to smile; smoke, and ride, smile has a very smooth natural sound. Nice start for the year TDE with Kendrick's new song “Untitled 2” that he premiered on Jimmy Fallon, and Absoul's House of Sin.

G.O.O.D Friday is Back (kinda) New Kanye

Image
Kim Kardashian announced via Twitter that G.O.O.D Friday is back. For those of you who don't know what that means, Kanye West will release a NEW song every Friday until the release of his new album titled SWISH. Kanye introduced the original G.O.O.D Friday releases during the release of his classic album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. This is my favorite album of Kanye's to this date. So hopefully that means that the new album and singles will be just as great. Although his recent releases "Facts" and "Real Friends" are not looking like it. Today he released "Real Friends/No Parties" which features singer Ty Dollar $ign and my hopes were high once again because I love Ty and Ye for the most part, but my high quickly went low. Once again Ye borrows the Drake sound in th chorus and the song as a whole is pretty amateur compared to the Ye we're use to. Yes, this song is way better than "Facts," but it's still not great. I...

Black Friday Special (Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole)

Image
Who Snapped the Hardest? Hip Hop heads have been waiting close to two years these two to release a collaboration album that have been mentioned on several occasions. Well idk if hour appetite is satisfied or if our questions have been answered, but the release of these two songs will definitely keep the inquiries. Cole saying something will be released in February and with a clip surfacing online of Kendrick mouthing his verse on a new song with the two rappers gives us a lot of hope. As for the Black Friday gift, Kendrick is rapping over J. Cole's "A Tale of Two Cities" and J. Cole is rapping over Kendrick's "Alright". First and foremost I have to say that they both were great and should've been featured on each other’s songs. Their voices just fit the songs. I'm a J. Cole fan so naturally I'm slightly bias towards him, but he did in fact snap. I don't know if I like the fact that he put a chorus inside of the song, but towards the end ...

Li Li Nicols - DAG Dreams.Ambition.Goals

More music from an upcoming female rapper named Li Li Nicols. The song samples El Debarge "I Like," and although she puts her own unique twist on the song, Li Li Nicols managed to keep its smooth sound. DAG is an acronym for dreams.ambition.goals, the title of the single and upcoming mixtape. Such a demanding voice from such a small person. Tell us what you think?

Big Break Records Presents, Kloke - Thinking Music

Image
Big Break Records Presents Kloke an upcoming artist bringing back that smooth 90's sound with his song "Thinking." The lyrics describes our current state in the world, much more than hip hop. Kloke's "Thinking" makes you do exactly that, think about what's going on, with a nice beat that you actually want to listen to. Nice job Kloke! This song makes the audieence crave to hear more of what this artist has to offer, especially the audience that prefer this style oppose to the usual Trap sub-genre. Don't just take my word for it, check it out yourself!
