Let's talk: Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B

Image
In 4 days since the release of rapper Cardi B’s debut album titled, Invasion of Privacy . Atlantic Records has already announced that the album is a certified gold, with certainty that it’ll be platinum by the end of this week.  Fans are going crazy, many saying that the album is an instant classic. Comparing the album to female rapper rivalry, Nicki Minaj debut album Pink Friday, whose numbers have remained unmatched, until now. There’s without a doubt that Cardi B have exceeded expectations throughout her career, no one ever assumed she would be this dominant in rap from her start on Love & Hip-Hop New York. Even after her hit single " Bodak Yellow ", I like others feared that her album wouldn’t maintain her popularity. I was wrong, Invasion of Privacy delivers in production, relevancy, style and overall relatable content. Cardi announces her platform as a hit making trap queen with this one. With songs that features artist like Kehlani, SZA , and Chance the R...

Dallas rapper MO3 doing Numbers

Image
MO3 is a Dallas Rapper who has enjoyed success on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. The rising rapper has built tremendous buzz, as fans have locked to experience his music. He hails from the Northside of Dallas, Texas. A city of high poverty, and little opportunity to escape low income expectations. “I had to do what I had to do to get by” MO3 explains, and that “Everyday was a hustle.” The sequel to his debut, Shottaz. Reloaded, arrived at the close of 2015. The album featured “Hold Ya Tongue,” which went on to become a moderate hit for MO3, notching nearly two million streaming views in the year after release. Reloaded hit number 14 on the Billboard Rap chart, climbing to number two on the Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. His follow-up, 4 Indictments hosted by DJ Drama, also topped the Billboard’s Heatseekers chart upon release in 2016. 4 Indictments featured Louisiana artist Boosie Badazz on 2 songs entitled “What She said,” and “My Nigga”. 5 songs on More Life that sound like other Drake songs

Image
1. Free Smoke & Grammy Although these songs have completely different arrangements on each album, they both share similar content and sounds. Free Smoke begins with the choir like sound that have become more popular in hip hop and leads into the natural base upbeat sound. Grammy just instantly goes into the upbeat tempo Drake flow on both songs are almost synonymous, but Free Smoke just isn't as catchy as Grammy. 2. No long talk & Energy  Besides the fact that the songs share the same sound bite. The beat and flow Drake uses screams Energy, if not the entire sound of If you're reading this . I appreciate the fact that Drake always features unknown artist, giving them a chance to "prove" themselves, but in this case I'm not sure Giggs fit the beat of the song. 3. Madiba Riddim & Controlla I guess on this album Drake was really feeling the Caribbeans, because majority of the album sounds island influenced. This comes as no surprise, because to ...

J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez Only isn't Great but it's Needed (Review)

Image
After basically going ghost for 2 years rapper J. Cole decides to become the center of entertainment with the release of his fourth studio album 4 Your Eyez Only alongside 2 new singles False Prophets and Everybody Dies . Fans went crazy after hearing "False Prophets" where Cole decides to call out what we're assuming is Kanye for having ghost writers, and on everyone dies Cole literally murdered everyone with Lil in their name. Although rappers Lil Yatchy and Uzi Vert didn't take any offense to Cole's verse and Kanye hasn't responded to anything since being hospitalized, fans are now once again calling J. Cole hip hop's savior. Personally I can't say that Cole dissed anyone because his statements were very indirect and could be talking about anyone who's mainstream or praised in hip hop, and the verse that mention "Lil" is not shocking because not even those rappers truly care about the essence of hip hop, they simply are having f...

2 Flaws in Tory Lanez I Told You

Image
Toronto rapper Tory Lanez released his debut album I Told You last Friday, August 19. The album instantly went viral, as expected to with the lead single being "Say It" that took over the radio. Receiving mixed reviews from the critics, but glory from most of the audience, I Told You proved that Tory Lanez has officially made a name for himself as artist. However with a name comes a critique, and after thoroughly listening to the album, I did enjoy it, but their are 2 major flaws in the album that takes away from the art of the songs. TOO MANY SKITS! I understand that skits are used in albums in order to tell a story, but having a skit after every song is highly unnecessary. Ultimately the major point of being an artist is creating great music and having an audience to enjoy the music. How can I enjoy and appreciate the sound if after every song the music stops and doesn't flow into the next song? Tory Lanez needs to understand the concept of an interlude and inc...

The Game The Documentary 2 Review "Over-Hyped"

Image
After carefully reviewing rapper The Game newest album The Documentary 2 , I've concluded that The Game is a living advertisement. The Documentary 2 is the follow up album for Game's classic debut album The Documentary , released in 2005. The Documentary was an instant classic with songs like "Hate or Love It," and during that time period Game was considered "the savior" for West Coast rappers. To make a long story short, The Documentary was great! Now as for The Doc Two, well Game I appreciate the lyrical efforts throughout the album. The lyrics were intricate and described the images you wanted to portray on the album.  Now hear me out, yes the songs sound good, and yes The Game displayed some lyricism, but how many features should be on an album in order for us to consider the album collaboration or compilation album? The Documentary 2 track list includes 19 songs (including intro & skit) and of the 19 songs 13 (excluding intro & skit) of them ...

The cover is designed by contemporary artist Roy Nachum, who worked with Ri Ri on the cover.

Fetty Wap Album Review (Update) #PrayforFettywap

Image
Well the judgement is in about Fetty Wap self-titled album. With the hit song "Trap Queen" as the lead single Fetty Wap instantly went viral, making him a part of the 2015 XXL Freshmen Class. After several covers of the hit song were made audiences began anticipating more music from the freshmen. Critics thought Fetty would be a one hit wonder with the classic song, but he proved us wrong with the follow up single "My Way" which features Drake on the radio version. "All I Gotta Do is Put My Mind to This Sh**" is what Fetty did with this album. Fetty Wap delivers his unique sound nicely and with song like "Trap Luv" "679" and "Whateva" makes the album very catchy. However I dislike that the album has so many features from the rapper Monty. No offense, but honestly Monty sucks as a rapper, I tried to give him a shot but every time his part comes on I just want to skip it, and I really disliked that. Also the album has too man...

Drake and Future What a Time to Be Alive Review

Image
What A Time To Be ALive "What a time to be alive" is the title of Drake's & Future's collaborative project, that Drake recently confirmed via Instagram. The two rappers have been hinting about the collaboration over the past week via social medial, and like everyone else we've been keeping our eye out.  . Drake recently shared the artwork for the project on Instagram, captioning it " WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE” will be available at 8pm EST, Sunday on ITunes. So stay tuned for the review! The internet went crazy after the release of  What a Time to Be Alive , Drake and Future collaboration project. After thoroughly listening to the new Drake & Future album What a Time to Be Alive, I've concluded that this is the best club banger album of the year. Yes, I agree with the audience. Now comparing What a Time to be Alive to Watch The Throne is a far stretch, but I will say Future and Drake delivered on their expectations. This is the str...

A Future Kind Of Week, DS2 Review (stream)

Image
Dirty Sprite 2  Released: July 17, 2015 In the midst of the baby mama drama and twitter arguments, Future Hendrix managed to release his hot new album Dirty Sprite 2 . This is the third studio album from Future, with only one feature, rapper pal Drake. Which is a major difference from the sophomore album Honest that contains 9 features. In recent interviews Future discusses going back to his roots, the ATL, in order to recreate himself and his fans love for the Future they've always known. I should go into the Ciara & Future drama, because of his recent comments regarding Ciara bringing their son around her new boo, Russell Wilson. Since the break up with Future and singer Ciara the Futurehive is buzzing saying, "he's back!" I to am enjoying Dirty Sprite 2 . The production fits the album and Future's voice. The summer club bangerz have finally arrived. Despite the "promoting of drug use" comments made, but taken out of context by rapper OG Mac...

Tyler Hotel - How Are You Doing

Image
Tyler Hotel  James Tyler’s is a Chicago based solo artist, and he has recently released his long awaited new album titled "How Are YOU Doing?" which he had been working on for almost a year.  "I made this album to address a lot of things in my life that I was avoiding, friends were going in and out of hospitals, and family problems were arising. So I decided to tackle it head on by making a project about it, and during the process learned how to treat myself". The project consists of 6 songs, and talks a lot about the mental, physical and emotional states of being alive. And after the release of HAYD, it is safe to say that he is more alive than ever. This is the biggest and most successful addition to his career and he couldn't be happier with both it, and all the love and support he is getting. Tyler, The Creator - Cherry Bomb Review

Image
Cherry Bomb  Cherry Bomb is the fourth album for rapper, Tyler The Creator. Although the odd future camp has been M.I.A from the hip hop industry, they definitely understand how to remain relevant. As for the album I think it’s passable as a solid fourth album. The fourth albums are supposed to be more relaxed and less intense because as an artist this is the time to vacate, after all the years of long sleepless nights. Cherry Bomb is not a classic, but it's Tyler, and I give the album a 7 out of 10.

Kendrick Lamar Releases To Pimp A Butterfly (Review)

Image
To Pimp A Butterfly (5/5) To Pimp a Butterfly   is set to release on March 23, 2015. The lead single being "i" gave fans controversial feelings on what to expect from the album. Kendrick also revealed that To Pimp a Butterfly will also have "u," serving as a counter part to the single "i." Curiosities continue, but from the looks and sounds of the title, songs, and cover art of   To Pimp a Butterfly , I am expecting the more political side of King Kendrick. The Fader revealed that there is also a fake track-list being spread around. Rolling Stones has already announced Kdot as their next cover feature. L!ve is excited about   To Pimp A Butterfly , stay tuned for the review! (updated) Track list  1. “Wesley’s Theory” 2. “For Free?
