Let's talk: Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B

Image
In 4 days since the release of rapper Cardi B’s debut album titled, Invasion of Privacy . Atlantic Records has already announced that the album is a certified gold, with certainty that it’ll be platinum by the end of this week.  Fans are going crazy, many saying that the album is an instant classic. Comparing the album to female rapper rivalry, Nicki Minaj debut album Pink Friday, whose numbers have remained unmatched, until now. There’s without a doubt that Cardi B have exceeded expectations throughout her career, no one ever assumed she would be this dominant in rap from her start on Love & Hip-Hop New York. Even after her hit single " Bodak Yellow ", I like others feared that her album wouldn’t maintain her popularity. I was wrong, Invasion of Privacy delivers in production, relevancy, style and overall relatable content. Cardi announces her platform as a hit making trap queen with this one. With songs that features artist like Kehlani, SZA , and Chance the R...

Remy Ma shether herself with another one (Remy VS Nicki Minaj)

Image
Queen of rap? When you think of classic rap beefs the first ones that come to mind are; Tupac VS Biggie, Nas VS Jay Z, and 50 Cent VS the world. These beefs influenced the culture, causing the most attention, and simply were the most entertaining beefs within artist. While incorporating personal references that are directly stated against their opponent kept the audiences involved and anxious. Since the emergence of publicizing entertainment feud and creating music to antagonize the conflict, annually audience expect for another beef to evolve.  Shether This year's beefs will begin with Remy Ma VS Nicki Minaj. This isn't an unexpected beef because it's rumored that the two had previous words before Remy was sentenced to serve 8 years in prison. Since her release Remy has stated that she doesn't have any issues with Nicki, although critics push that some of Nicki's lyrics were indirect shots towards Remy. The two have shared several friendly endorsem...

Making music with your favorite artist may hurt your career

Image
Since the revolution of music, artist have collaborated in order to exchange fan bases and create new sounds. Collaborations ultimately benefits both parties, most of the time one star isn't as popular in the media and the other needs to remain relevant in the media hence the collab. Recently major artist like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West etc... have been criticized by audiences addressed as vultures for hopping on popular songs and instead of helping the artist, stealing their artist identity while the artist rapidly declines in status. For example Kanye remixed Chief Keef's " Don't Like " Keef remained popular the entire year and now he's unknown, Drake hopped on Fetty Wap's " My Way " and completely took the Migos flow after " Versace ." Although they all were great songs, the business of music definitely left a bad taste with hip hop fans. We're seeing more seasonal artist versus long term hip hop develop in the industry. Ba...

Lil Wanye Influenced Drake, Nicki Minaj, & Kendrick Lamar

Image
Lil Wayne is the most underrated influence of this generation. Ok, yes Weezy hasn't been the same since his incarceration, Wayne's music has been average and currently he's not a topic in most music conversations unless you're referring to "old Wayne." However Weezy's sound and untouchable work ethic is the origin of this can't actually sing but use auto tune in order to create a harmony on the song sound. Wayne just like Kanye, Tupac, and so many others has created a style that has influenced an entire generation whether they're aware of it or not. Remember the T-Wayne era?  T-Wayne is similar to the modern day boy band "ships" but instead involves combining two people that should or do collaborate on music often. T-Wayne refers to the collection of hit songs that rapper T- Pain and Lil Wayne collaborated on. T- Pain branded him self as a singer that only used the auto tune effect and Lil Wayne began to use the same effect o...

Beyoncé Remixes Prince's "Darling Nicki" As An Ode To Nicki Minaj

Image
Lyrics to Beyonce version of "Darling Nicki"  I met a girl named Nicki I guess you can say she was the rap queen I met her in the studio lobby but her booty looked bigger in the magazines She said, "Bey, would you jump on this song of mine?" How could I resist when I heard little Nicki rhyme?

VMA Winners & Moments #VMAs

Image
First and foremost Kanye West had the most memorable acceptance speech at the show. Taking home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award presented by Taylor Swift, which in Kanye words "heavily promoted to increase MTV ratings." He spoke on many topics jumping from the millennium teachers of the generation, to the flaws in award shows, and ended with announcing that he is running for president in the year 2020. After the announcement #Kanye4President began trending on Twitter and Facebook.  Miley Cyrus hosted the show, delivering on both entertainment and fashion throughout the entire show, with funny commentary, multiple wardrobe changes, and staged clips. Nicki Minaj also had a few words for Miley responding to Miley's recent interview comments towards the rapper. Overall the show was entertaining with performances by The Weekend, Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky and 21 pilots, and Pharrell. However with questionable award winners and the overall dynamics of award sho...

Meek Mill Dreams Worth More Than Money Review

Image
Dreams worth more than money is the second studio album from rapper Meek Mill released on June 29, 2015. The album features Chris brown, Drake, the Weekend, Future, Rick Ross, Diddy, and of course girlfriend Nicki Minaj on 2 songs. Meek seems to have calmed down his usual turnt hype voice on this album oppose to his debut album "Dreams and Nightmares" maybe girlfriend Nicki Minaj have something to do with that, but his tone was definitely different. Nicki features on 2 songs "Bad for You" and the leading single "All Eyes on You" which also features Chris Brown. The three of them recently performed the single at the BET Awards show where Meek and Nicki paraded their relationship. The song describes their relationship and it's problems being a Hollywood couple. As for the album Dreams Worth More Than Money, I give it a 6 out of 10, the songs were well developed, extremely consistent, and the production is incredible, but I just didn't feel like ...

That Ass Though! (Nicki Minaj Incident)

Image
Implants or Not?   With the topic being Nicki Minaj song Anaconda lately, here's more fuel to the fire. TMZ released this picture which appears to show rapper Nicki Minaj, well let’s just say the cat is out of the bag lol. After countless debate over Nicki Minaj's butt, the verdict is IT'S FAKE! While performing for a fashion show in Brooklyn, while sitting down this photo was captured. The photo looks as if Minaj's butt is completely separate from her thigh. The photo has gone viral so it’s only right to talk about the picture. This doesn’t surprise me, because Nicki Minaj has always made ass shots references, but she never has directly said “my ass is phony.” She’s still an influential rapper with or without her big ass. Then again that’s an arguable statement, some feeling as if her huge ass has given her the success. However I think she’s a talented rapper and her success is well deserved.    Nicki Minaj - Anaconda

2014 Top Moments of MTV VMAs & Winners LIst

VMA's  Highlights Nicki Minaj Anaconda Performance Words cannot really express this performance, the performance was almost identical to the official video, except the performance had more clothes and excluded the lap dance to Drake. Honestly I found the performance quite extreme but Nicki did rock the hell out of the stage. Following the performance Nicki Minaj seemed to have had a wardrobe malfunction or she just like holding her dress up. Beyonce Performance The Royal family remains as Beyonce performance expressed her love for her Husband and Daughter. Ceasing all divorce rumors as they share a kiss on stage during her acceptance speech. Beyonce of course having a great performance, she might just be the world best entertainer, since the death of Michael Jackson. Usher Head-Butts Nicki Minaj Butt Usher shows that he still has the moves in him this year at the VMAs. However his performance with Nicki Minaj is what topped the cake. During their per...
