Good Kid, m.A.A.d City, the movie?

In October of 2012, Kendrick Lamar released what is generally regarded to as the best Hip-Hop album of the year. Too numerous others, it is also regarded to as one of the best Hip-Hop albums ever, as it immediately received comparisons to Nas's "Illmatic". With these bold conparisons, it is safe to say that this album was pretty dope at the least. This album was popular for it's story-telling throughout the entirety of the album and for having the ability to captivate the listener into the story, while still being appealing and radio-friendly. Not many albums hold that ability.

For the people that jokingly said, "Good Kid, m.A.A.d City" wasn't an album, it was a movie", or "GKMC might win a Grammy and an Oscar", well...both have now become actual possibilities. Shia LaBeouf and Kendrick Lamar are allegedly collaborating to create a short film for the almost-platinum Good Kid, m.A.A.d City album. People may have the opportunity to have an actual glimpse of life in Compton, California. As of now, Kendrick and Shia have not been able to fully map out the moivie, as Kendrick has been busy with music and tours.

“We actually had a meeting, but our scheduled conflicted… Shia LaBeouf, he got a crazy creative mind, but once we really do sit down and lock in, it’s gonna be insane,” Kendrick said.

“He wanted to do a video, he had a few ideas… that was the time I was recording the album and going on the road, so I couldn’t really sit down for a period of time.”

Hopefully K. Dot and Shia get this opportunity to cook up this dopeness some time soon. It will be interesting to see what happens when two creative minds come together.
