Is Lil Wayne THAT bad?

Is Lil Wayne really as bad as we all make him seem? Of course he is. His punchlines are subpar, his lyrics are trash, and throwing his projects in the trash is disrespect to your trash can, but let's not act like he's just the most terrible nigga to ever breathe on a studio microphone. Young Tunafish still has some hot bars here and there. He can still drop a decent verse here and there. And let's not forget that he was THE best rapper alive in the mid 2000s--or Jay-Z...give or take. You all have to stop pretending like Wayne didn't revitalize rap back in that time. That was a time period in which the claim that hip-hop was dead was actually legitimate. Wayne dropped diamonds such as The Carter 2 (His best album in my opinion) and various mixtapes such as The Drought 2, Dedication 2, an No Ceilings. He also dropped The Drought 3, one of the best mixtapes in rap, period. And who can forget? Lil Wayne went platinum in a week on two consecutive albums. No matter what you say, numbers don't lie. Well...they're lying to me, but who cares? We have to be fair. Even though Lil Wayne has released songs like "Hit Em' Up""Hustler Musik", and one of my favorites, "Fly In/Fly Out", where he drops nice lines like "A list full of problems, I address em' like P.O. Boxes/ Yeah I'm from New Orleans, the Creole cockpit" and "Spilled the heart of a mildew hater/ I will put they body on chill like glaciers (Glacius)", he has had to adjust to his growing audience. This does not justify him saying stuff like, "I'm twisted...doorknob", "I make it rain so hard...flowers grow", "I just fucked an Avatar, now I have a blue dick", or even "Weezy F. Baby and the F is for phenomenal". Nigga what?!

All in all, Lil Wayne has had too prolific of a career for us to ridicule him the way we do. Give the man some credit. He DID revitalize hip-hop, no matter how stubborn you want to be. More importantly, no artist is powerful enough to kill hip-hop, so stop accusing him of it. So what, maybe all of Lil Wayne's recent projects can have a camaraderie in my computer's recycle bin. He's still great in a sense, and we must appreciate him. He may have ditched the genre to skate in leggings, but he still made on hell of an impact. I still appreciate you, bruh. Respect.
