Everyone Needs to Watch Chiraq (Review)

It's crazy how everyone (including myself) we're so quick to judge and write off Spike Lee for him depicting the current state of the world, in his new movie Chiraq. Chicago natives instantly criticize Spike Lee for creating a movie about the gang violence in Chicago, because he's not from Chicag smh. Chance The Rapper says the movie was made to exploit not to "save lives." I too participate in this ignorance, mainly because Nick Cannon is one of the stars in the movie. He plays the character Chiraq, the lead gang member and local rapper of Chicago. Although the movie turned out to be phenomenal, I'll never be able to take Nick Cannon seriously especially as a gang member, with his drum line face lol. Sorry Nick your acting wasn't too bad actually, but I cannot. Anyways back to the topic at hand, Chiraq is a term describing the city of Chicago and Iraq as a war zone hence "Iraq." WAKE UP!!! Spike is weighing in on the ignorance of gang violence, innocent people being killed for what? Reputation? Well sad to tell you once you die eventually so does your "rep," as stated multiple times in the movie. We talk about cops killing innocent people, but turn heads and nose up to everything else. Spike says it perfectly in Chiraq we must wake up in order for society to change. Conspiracy Conspiracy Conspiracy right? Yes, but this is more than a "black" thing this is a human thing. Iraq is primarily Arabic people, and yet the south side of Chicago is being compared to the country, that's proof that war has no particular race. War is about money and resources not race, religion, or pride. Stay tuned, because I will go into detail explaining that statement on the 8th of this month.
I can see how the movie might offend Chicago natives if they've only seen the trailer, but the actual scenes of the movie does not portray these situations in a light manner. This is reality unless the numbers we're being told are lies, but sorry Chance you don't have to be from Chicago to understand death or murder. Who created the term Chiraq? Because if the natives of Chicago created the term than honestly you're exploiting yourself. I no longer see anything wrong with Spike using the term to try and generate positive change, when theirs natives like Chief Keef using the exact term and promoting violence. How are Chicago natives mad at Spike Lee and not Chief Keef?

Teyonah Parris plays Lysistrata the girlfriend of Chiraq who begins a sex boycott in order to obtain peace. When I first heard about the women abstaining from sex in order to achieve peace, I laughed no lie. I instantly thought "that's impossible," me an African American women thought it was impossible. I was ignorant to the fact that this tactic has already been accomplished and successful since the beginning of time in countries such as: Nigeria, Colombia, Kenya, Liberia, Togo, Sudan, Philippians, and Italy. So why wouldn't this work in the U.S.? “The land of the free.” No, we're still in the land of deceit and puppetry to me. Everyone cares about what the next person is saying or doing, but when it comes to murder, turns head. We've become so comfortable with immorality, crime, and the BS that's fed to us on the TV that we've lost our drive to fight for the real real. Recently I realized it in myself also, and I'm what most people consider a "conscious" person. The reason why I loved Chiraq so much was not because it introduced a different idea, no I loved the movie because it was blunt it was in your face, you as the audience had nowhere to run from the truth about our world. The movie is so in your face and inspiring that if enough people throughout the world watched the movie, I believe an evolution would happen just as fast as we talk about the stupid Kardashians.
