The Revenant Up for 12 Oscars
The Revenant
- A person who has returned; supposedly from the dead
Released: December 25, 2015 |
The Oscar
nominated movie The Revenant stars Leonardo Dicaprio, as Hugh Glass
an American settler helping the French colony search for pellets in the harsh
America. The film is set during the early 1800s, telling the story of Hugh
Glass, a man who loses his Native American family to the colonization wars.
He's betrayed by the French and left for dead after the mauling attack of a
Grizzly bear and is forced to face the test of the ultimate survival. The
antagonist in the movie is the character Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy who
murders Glass's son leaving him with nothing but his breath in the world. This
calls for the fight of revenge between Hugh Glass and Fitzgerald.
The 3
hour film stirs up mixed feelings throughout the entire movie. The brutality of
the fighting and infamous bear scene will make your stomach turn, as it does
suppose to. You really felt and seen the pain in Dicaprio’s face, but that's
not shocking being that he always dominate character roles. The cinematography
painted the perfect picture of what the times were like during the 1800s. As
for the story line, uhh not the best, but I guess since this is based on a true
story there's not much you can do to change that. I found myself getting bored
with the story line, because it seemed too long and dragged out in order to get
to the simple point. Does the movie deserve 12 Oscar nominations? Probably not
12, but I would say yes it deserves a NOMINATION, and maybe not a win. I've
enjoyed Dicaprio’s performance in many previous films with more entertaining
scripts than The Revenant.
However I guess the movie does display a completely different kind of character
oppose to other films. Anyways I
give the overall movie 7 out of 10!
I loved the movie!! Let's go Leo
