"We live in a society where the unspoken truth is the mental disease called denial, and where words are too brutal to be shared. Ultimately making fantasy the pinnacle of reality. I'm just here to say those words." ~Alisha Andrews

What was
the first thing you were taught about the African American heritage?
I guess it all fell down Stacey
Think long and hard before answering that question. I
remember mine, simple slavery. Our history is presented to us as if African
Americans only roots were being enslaved. If not slaves here in America than
slaves in Africa, who were traded here to continue slavery. Disregarding
African kings, queens, tribes, and indigenous culture all over the world;
Kemet, Aboriginals, the Mongols, Meso-America, Nubians, etc...The other races
begin from their tribes and colonies, but we began from slavery? No, you
realize once you do some extended research that we (all people) were falsely
educated to that accordance. Ultimately causing devalues segregation, and
mistreatment that are still present in today's society. Is this intentional? Some argue no and many suggest that
the mistreatment is, but ultimately that's for you to decide. As for promoting
segregation such as BET, Black History Month, and the NAACP Image awards, in
response to actress Stacey Dash most recent comment, "you're either for
integration or segregation, we should get rid of these" why would anyone
want to get rid of history only for it to be shield and lied about? I
completely understand the point of view that such names constantly implicates
race, which ultimately continues the prejudices and segregation. Yes, this is
true, however for equality things like; the history, TV networks, award show,
careers ...the list can go on needs to be completely equal for all ethnicity
and culture. Her statement makes me wonder if Stacey has ever read books
outside of the classroom, because seems like the last thing she read was
mediatakeout. We're taught about the Native American people and culture, and
the colonized White Americans but never the Asian American, Mexican Americans,
or African American. People feel welcomed when they can identify and respect
one another.
The View cast heavily weighed in on the subject making great
arguments. Television itself supports most stereotypical ideas, including BET,
which is actually white owned and underneath the same network as MTV, Viacom.
So that alone really isn't substantial enough to portray Black culture. However
people need shows and stations that they can identify with in order to believe
it's reality, because sorry Stacey not everyone live in a clueless world being
the token characters of their inner circle. Also who are you to specifically
point out all of the "Black" segregation while living off of them? BET also responded to Stacey's statement that instantly became one of the funniest clapbacks of the season. Note to Stacey: If
you're going to speak about segregation vs. integration, why not point out all
of the segregation; Latinas having their own networks, Logo the gay and lesbian
network, Lifetime which is a network for women. All of those are separate
because not everyone wants to watch Friends all of the time. No
shade towards Friends because I in fact love that show, but you should see the
point.

The facts are black shows, black awards, black stations,
were created because they were not allowed an entrance to them. If the culture
wasn't highly influential ultimately receiving more attention from the audience
I'm quite sure we still wouldn't be allowed. Indigenous people weren't
even considered people at one point in time. So you wouldn't have been
considered American. Did a change of heart make these laws and rules change?
Uhhh Nooo money did duh. The same thing that's making you looks like an idiot
and pays you on all of these "black" channels. History is history you
can not erase the facts, so if the society chooses to disregard the African
American people's contributions to the civilization on a daily basis, why take
away a month of acknowledgement. Anyways, after Stacey made the comment it went viral as many celebrities and fans stated their disappointment with her. I don't think I've heard any statements agreeing with Ms. Dash. She responded to twitter and instagram comments and to former boyfriend Prophet who stated that Stacey hates herself and gets skin bleaching treatments. Well I hope one day you can love yourself Stacey and your melanin, because I know I do.
First and foremost the fact that the entire lead cast with exception of Chadwick Boseman who plays Thoth, being of European Caucasian decent is asinine. It's a historic fact that the Gods of Egypt portrayed in this film were of African descent containing large amounts of melanin in their DNA. Simply meaning that the characters being portrayed were in real life are black. The original statues found in Egypt shows round noses, braided hair, and big lips; these are physical characteristics of black people Akhenaten "The civilization of Egypt and of Africa in general, is the most written about and least understood of all known subjects. This is not an accident or an error in misunderstandings the available information. Except for Egypt, African people have been programmed out of the respectable commentary of history. Europeans have claimed the non-African creation of Egypt in order to downgrade the position of African people in the world history. They have laid the founda...
Conscious VS Trap After Vince Staple tweet about not wanting to be placed in the conscious rap label last Wednesday evening, Hip Hop heads voiced their opinion on the sub labels of hip hop. I am highly offended by the term conscious rap don't associate me with that. — Vince Staples (@vincestaples) August 12, 2015 This brings me to talk about the topic. Should hip hop have sub genres? Hip Hop was founded on the fun of mixing together music with rhymes and developed into storytelling, word play, political power etc... The culture of hip hop will always include the elements of DJs to turn the tables, a microphone to spit the bars, graffiti to paint the images, and the infinite break dancing. Introduced in the late 70's were hip hop pioneer groups like, the Sugar Hill Gang, who were the first hip hop group to enter into mainstream media with the classic anthem "Rappers Delight," which expressed pure fun, funkadelic beats, rhymes, and basic flow. During th...
